Description: 

Rakaia River Mouth is a river mouth bar break on a shingle/stoney beach, located at the mouth of the Rakaia River and accessed from either the south or north side. There are several peaks to choose from on the river mouth bar with both right and left handers. The wave is hollow with steep drop ins and barrels on offer. Best for advanced to expert surfers only. River mouths often have strong current or rips.

Directions: 
Rakaia River Mouth is located at the mouth of the Rakaia River, south of Christchurch. From Christchurch head south on State Highway 1, to Rakaia. In Rakaia turn left onto Rolleston Street and then continue onto Acton Road. Turn left onto Corbetts Road and continue onto Kingsburys Road. Make your way down as close as possible to the river and from here is a walk down the beach to the river mouth.
