Wharariki Beach

Wharariki beach is a beach break on a sandy beach, located on the west coast at the top of the south island. There is a bit of a walk to get to the beach, but well worth it for the beautiful scenery. The beach has several peaks down the beach with both right and left handers. The wave is punchy and fun. Good for all levels of surfer. There is a local camp ground at Wharariki Beach.

Farewell Spit

Farewell Spit is a remote beach on the West Coast at the top of the South Island. The beach consists of a left-hand point break, known as Pillar Point, at the western end of the beach, as well as a beach break with various peaks expanding the rest of the beach. Pillar Point offers a fun, fast wave that may provide you with some long rides. The other peaks offer fun waves, both right and left-handers. Farewell Spit is very exposed and is often quite windy. Being so remote, crowds are generally minimal, so you can often have the beach to yourself.

Paturau Beach

Paturau Beach is a remote beach on the West Coast near the top of the South Island. The beach consists of a left hand point break at the southern end of the beach, which has some boulders high on the beach and at the point. the rest of the beach is sand with a main peak on the river mouth and other peaks on the north side of the river. the point offers a nice fast wave that provides some long rides. the peaks offer nice fun, waves, both right and left handers. The peaks can change a bit depending on tide and river conditions.
