Kakanui is a beach break on a sandy beach, located at Kakanui, on the coast from Maheno. Kakanui features a right hand point break in front of the river mouth at the south end of the beach. Good fun peaks on offer. Good for all levels of surfer.
Oamaru South is a beach break on a sandy beach. The are lots of peaks down the beach to choose from, so find a spot to yourself. Good punchy, fun waves on offer, both right and left handers. Good for all levels of surfer.
Oamaru Harbour is a right hand point break at the end of the harbour breakwater. Its a short, punchy wave that breaks onto a sand and rock bottom. It needs a good size swell to get working. Good for all surfers, but best for intermediate and up. Watch out for boats passing. Careful of tidal currents and rips.
