Albatross Point is a group of four left-hand point breaks along a row of rocky points, located south of Kawhia Harbour near Arohaki Bay. You must have permission to cross land to access the bay or take a boat out from the harbour. Albatross Point needs a huge swell to bend around the point and reach the bay. The waves reel off with several sections with which to play. Wally, punchy waves and hollow barrel sections too. Leave this break to the experts. Caution: History of extreme localism.
Mussel Rock is a sandy beach break on the north side of the Raglan Harbour Mouth. There are several peaks down the beach with both left and right-handers, best around the rocks. The wave changes depending on sand movement, tide and wind. Can be fat or develop hollow barrels. To get there, you need to either paddle across the harbour inlet from the Raglan Bar or access by boat. Good for surfers of all levels.
Wainui Beach at Raglan is a beach break on a sandy beach. There are various peaks to choose from along the beach. The wave offers both right and left handers, and can get good hollow barrels with a bit of power. Best on a higher tide. Good for beginners to expert surfers.
Raglan Bar is a bar/beach break at the mouth of the Raglan Harbour. The wave offers both right and left handers, and can get hollow barrels, or fun fast waves when smaller. The wave is changable depending on sand movement and currents. Best on a lower, incoming tide. Good for intermediate to expert surfers.
Indicators is the third of the well-known Raglan point breaks. It is a long left-hand point break on a boulder/rock beach. The wave is the longest and fastest out of the three Raglan points. The wave has two main parts, Outers and Insides. Outers is further out at the point (west end) and starts with a gnarly drop-in, into a fast barrel section. On big enough days, you can surf through to Insides, or on smaller days the wave will be too fast for you to make it through. Insides has a nice drop-in, with various sections, from wally, cutback sections, to several fast, barrel sections.
