The fun starts down around Lake Ferry and Cape Palliser, with a range of beach and point break style reef breaks. Then further north you will find Castlepoint Beach with some amazing waves, along with some hidden gems along the way.
Lake Ferry is a shingle beach with an A frame peak at the mouth from Lake Onoke. Best on a higher tide, It produces a sucky, gnarly barrel, with a hollow take off. Both left and right handers on offer. Advanced to Expert surfs only. Is a fairly in-consistant break, so check the reports and pick your day.
The Gap is an amazing wee break where the swell just passes through a small opening into the inlet and breaks on the sandy beach. The beach has a tight curve creating a perfect A frame, with some long walls and it can barrel. Its gets shelted from strong winds keeping the surface nice and smooth. It needs a decent size swell to get in the inlet, especially if the swel angles not quite right. Best from 2 to 6 foot. Good for all levels.
