The Gap - Castlepoint
The Gap is an amazing wee break where the swell just passes through a small opening into the inlet and breaks on the sandy beach. The beach has a tight curve creating a perfect A frame, with some long walls and it can barrel. Its gets shelted from strong winds keeping the surface nice and smooth. It needs a decent size swell to get in the inlet, especially if the swel angles not quite right. Best from 2 to 6 foot. Good for all levels.

Directions
From Masterton take Te Ore Ore Road east out of the city and veer right onto Masterton Castlepoint Road which leads all the way out to Castlepoint. You should be able to follow the signs. When you get to Castlepoint, continue driving stright through the town onto Jetty Road. At the end of the road you can choose to either drive out onto the sand turn right and drive down the beach to The Gap, or you can choose to park up and walk south down the beach to The Gap.
