Schnappes is a left hand reef break off the side of a large rock, onto a rocky beach. Its a solid wave with a gnarly drop in, and powerful wall or barrel. This is a serious wave, experts only.

From Featherston drive east on State Highway 53, then turn right onto Kahutara Road and take it to the end. Turn right onto Lake Ferry Road. then turn left onto Cape Palliser Road and continue round the end of Cape Palliser. When you go round Rocky point the road will change to a 4wd Track. Schnappes is the bay with the big rock in the middle and small stream flowing out.
From Wellington take State Highway 2 north, out throught Upper Hutt, along to Featherston. Then follow directions from Featherston. Approx 170mins from Wellington to Schnappes.
From Masterton take State Highway 2 south, through Carterton and Greytown, along to Featherston. Then follow directions from Featherston. Approx 140mins from Masterton to Schnappes.
