Description:

Curio Bay is a beach break on a golden sand beach, at the southern end of Porpoise Bay. There are several peaks to choose from with both right and left handers. Can get some good, hollow lefts down the end. The wave is punchy and powerful. Good for all levels of surfer. It gets colder down this area, so wear plenty of rubber.

Directions:
From Dunedin head South on State Highway 1. When you get to Balclutha turn left onto High Street (Signs to Owaka), then turn right onto Owaka Highway. When you get to Owaka turn left onto Papatowai Highway and continue on through Papatowai on the Chaslands Highway. Then turn left onto Niagara-Waikawa Road. At Waikawa turn right onto Waikawa Curio Bay Road round along Porpoise Bay to the southern end of the beach, Curio Bay. The petrified forest is just round the point, which is another amzing natural attraction of the area.
