Port Waikato is a left hand point break on a rocky point, located on the points at the south end of Sunset Beach. The wave is powerful and wally, with a steep fast drop in and nice long rides on offer. Advanced to expert surfers only.

Port Waikato is located on the points south or Sunset Beach, on the south side of the Waikato River mouth.
From Auckland head south on State Highway 1. Turn right onto Helenslee Road, exit 476. Continue right onto Munro Road, then turn right onto Pokeno Road. Continue onto Whangarata Road. In Tuakau, turn left onto River Road, cross the Waikato River then turn right onto Tuakau Bridge-Port Waikato Road. At Port Waikato turn right onto Maunsell Road and follow this down to the beach. From here its a walk round to the point.
