Maukatia-Maori Bay
Maukatia-Maori Bay is a beach break on a sandy beach, located just south of Muriwai on Aucklands west coast. There are several peaks along the beach to choose from with both right and left handers. There is a good left hander off shag rock in the middle of the bay and also at the southern end of the bay. The wave is powerful and hollow, with barrels on offer. The shorey can get heavy. Good for intermediate to expert surfers.

Maukatia-Maori Bay is located just south of Muriwai, on Aucklands west coast.
From Auckland head west on the North Western Motorway, State Highway 16. At Waimauku turn left onto Muriwai Road. Continue onto Oaia Road, into Muriwai, then turn right onto Waitea Road, turn into the Beach car park and get down to the beach.
