Description:

Murdering Bay is a right hand point break along the rocky bay onto a sandy beach. The bay features a long, wally, right hand, barrelling wave that seems to keep on going. Good fast take off with several sections to play with. Murdering Bay isn't very consistant as the conditions have to be just right for the swell to get in, but when its on its magic. On small days there can be a nice mal wave. Good for intermediate to expert surfers. When its on and can draw the crowds in, so know the rules and respect the locals.

Directions:
From Dunedin head north on Cumberland Street State Highway 1, then follow signs to Port Chalmers turning right onto St Andrew Street, then left onto Anzac Ave State Highway 88. Continue on State Highway 88 to Port Chalmers. At Port Chalmers turn left onto Wickliffe Terrace then Borlases Road, then turn right onto Blueskin Road. Continue onto Purakanui Road and continue right onto Heyward Point Road where the road changes to gravel, be careful from here on in. Turn left onto Murdering Beach Road and down to the beach.
