Waihi Beach
Waihi Beach is a sandy beach break located at the southern end of the Coromandel. You can surf anywhere along this stretch of beach. There are several peaks to choose from with both right and left-handers. There can also be a good left off the rocks at the northern end of the beach. The wave is punchy and fun. This beach is popular, so watch out for swimmers, know the rules and respect the locals. Suitable for all levels of surfer. Facilities available at the surf club.

From Tauranga City, head west out of Tauranga on Takitimu Drive/State Highway 2. Turn right onto Athenree Road and continue onto Steele Road, then turn right onto Emerton Road. Turn right onto Seaforth Road. At the coast, turn left onto Seaforth Road and continue straight onto Wilson Road. Turn right onto Beach Road. At the roundabout, turn right onto The Esplanade and find a park near the surf club. You can surf anywhere along this stretch of beach.
