Whituare Bay
Whituare Bay is a right hand point on a shingle/stoney beach, located just north of Hawai, also known as Maraenui. The bay produces a good quality right hand point. The wave wally but fat with several sections to play with and nice long rides. Good mal wave. Suitable for intermediate to expert surfers.

From Whakatane head east through Opotiki and change from State Highway 2 onto State Highway 35. Take this all the way along the coast past Hawai, then the next bay is Whituare Bay, and the point is at the north end of the beach. Its a steep walk down the track from the road.
