Pouawa Beach
North Makorori Reef is a left hand point break on a rocky point, located at the northern end of Makorori Beach, in the next bay north of Wainui. The wave is soft and fat, great mal wave. suitable for all surfers. Popular spot, so know the rules and respect the locals.

From Gisborne town centre drive east on Gladstone Road, onto Wainui Road, State Highway 35, towards Wainui. Continue past Wainui on Moana Road and onto Whangara Road. At Pouawa cross the Tarewarewa Stream and turn right onto the gravel road down to the beach.
