Description:

Cray Bay is a left hand point break on a rocky point, located a long walk south over the hills from Waimarama Beach. The wave is big and powerful, with a steep drop in and hollow barrels. Serious waves here, experts only. There are several other point breaks nearby, between Waimarama Beach and Red Island, that also produce excellent surf.

Directions:
From Hastings head east on Heretaunga Street East, which turns into Havelock Road, through to Havelock North. In Havelock North turn left onto Karanema Drive, then turn left onto Te Mata Road. Turn right onto Waimarama Road. Continue on Waimarama Road, then turn left onto Harper Road, down to the southern end of the beach. From here it is a very long walk south over the hill to Cray Bay and other point breaks.
