Oaro

Oaro is fun beach break on a sand/stone beach, right at the southern end of the Kaikoura coastline. Up the beach it is small stones and the surf breaks on a sand bottom. There are several peaks along the beach with both right and left handers. Oaro is usually uncrowded. Good for all levels of surfer.

Directions 

From Kaikoura head south on State Highway 1. Go past Goose Bay and Oaro is the last beach before the road turns inland, where the road speed limit turns to 100km/hr and there is a long passing lane, before heading into the hills. Pull off to the left into one of the gravel parking areas.
