Meatworks
Meatworks is a boulder beach with a solid peak, offering rights and lefts. It is a powerful wave with a fast take off. Needs to be at least 1.5ft or you'll be on the rocks. Watch for rock boil-ups. Careful getting in and out as the surf rolls the boulders around. This spot is popular, so crowds are expected - know the rules and respect the locals. Best for experienced intermediate to expert surfers.

Directions
From Kaikoura, drive north on State Highway 1 for about 10mins, until you cross the Hapuku River and pass Hapuku. Just past Hapuku Lodge, where the road meets the coastline again, there will be a tight left hand corner, take the road on the right just before the corner, Kiwa Road. It is a gravel road, cross the railway line and head south, until you come to a gravel car park and toilet block. Park up in front of the break at Meatworks.
