Waimakariri River Mouth is a river mouth bar break on a sandy beach, located at the mouth of the Waimakariri River and accessed on the north side. There are several peaks to choose from on the river mouth bar with both right and left handers. The wave is punchy and fun, and can get hollow. Best for advanced to expert surfers only. River mouths often have strong current or rips.

Waimakariri River Mouth is located at the mouth of the Waimakariri River, north of Christchurch.
From Christchurch head north on State Highway 1, across the Waimakariri River. Continue across the Kaiapoi river then take the exit for Kaiapoi Lineside Road, and turn right onto Lineside Road and onto Smith Street. Continue straight onto Beach Road. Continue onto Featherston Avenue along to the river and yacht club. Turn left and either find a park or drive out onto the beach cloaser to the break.
