Description: 

Desperation Point is the southern point out off Opunake beach. The are several peaks out off the point, with both right and left handers. The wave is punchy and wally. Best on a good size swell. Good for Intermediate to Expert surfers.

Directions: 
From New Plymouth head south on the surf highway, State Highway 45. From Opunake, when on the main road State Highway 45, take Layard Street South West out to the point. From here its a short walk down to the water. Opunake Beach Holiday Park is on Beach Road right on the beach in Opunake.
