Description:

Mokau is a river mouth beach break on a sandy beach, located at the mouth to the Mokau River. There can be a couple of peaks to choose from with both right and left handers, on both sides on the river mouth and along the beach. The break changes depending on sand bar movements. The wave is punchy and powerful, with barrels on offer. Suitable for intermediate to expert surfers. River mouths often have strong currents and rips, so watch out.
