Motukahakaha Bay is a beach break on a sandy beach, located east of Kaitaia on the east coast of Northland. There are several peaks down the beach to choose from with both right and left handers. The wave is punchy and fun. Good for all levels of surfer. Popular beach - know the rules and respect the locals. Watch out for swimmers.

Motukahakaha Bay is located east of Kaitaia on the east coast of Northland.
From Kaitaia, head north on North Road, State Highway 1. At Awanui turn right onto State Highway 10. Continue past Taipa and Mangonui, then turn left onto Taupo Bay Road. Turn left onto Waimahana Road and drive down as close to the beach as you can and there will be a short walk to the beach. You can also drive to Taupo Bay and hike over the hill to Motukahakaha Bay, you will need to ask permission to cross the farmers land.
