Description: 

Mukie1 is well known for excellent surf, with big long rides. Mukie1 is a left hand point break on a rocky/sandy point, located west round the point from Shipwreck Bay, and west of Ahipara. There are four distinct sections on the point starting with Pines the further most west, then onto Supertubes, then Mukie2 and Mukie1, the closest east. Mukie1 is the inside wave, onto the beach. The wave has a steep fast drop in and short barrel section. Mukie1 is a long walk to get to or if you have a 4wd you can drive around on the beach. Be careful of rips. Best for advanced to expert surfers.

Directions: 
Mukie1 is located west round the point from Shipwreck Bay, and west of Ahipara, on the west coast of Northland. From Kaitaia head south west on Redan Street, out of town, then continue straight ahead on Pukepoto Road. When you get to Ahipara, Continue straigh on Foreshore Road, over the Wairoa River. The road will change to gravel. Continue west along the shore line to the western end of the bay and turn right onto Wreck Bay Road. Drive to the end of the road and find a park. From here its either a long walk west round the point or you can drive along the beach if you have a 4wd, careful can be dangerous and tidal.
