Taipa
Taipa is a beach break on a sandy beach, located east of Kaitaia on the east coast of Northland. There are several peaks down the beach to choose from with both right and left handers. Needs a big swell to get into the bay. The wave is soft and fat, good mal wave and great for learners. Good for all levels of surfer. Popular beach - know the rules and respect the locals. Watch out for swimmers. River mouths often have strong currents and rips.

From Kaitaia, head north on North Road, State Highway 1. At Awanui turn right onto State Highway 10. At Taipa, turn left onto Mamaru Road, then right onto Foreshore Road.
